Test Analysis(draft)

Test Analysis on “Letter from a Birmingham Jail”,
Page 4, written by King, Jr.

This text is a speech of Martin Luther King Jr. He was an American black man that fought in a pacific way in the USA to ensure that black people had the same rights than whites did. To show this, he provided examples on the text to establish that what he was arguing was not to disobey law, because that would mean anarchy, but to improve them, since they were not well made and could be interpreted in different ways,             and therefore they should be modified to be fair to all Americans, regardless skin colour, religion, education, social or economical level.
In this letter the language used is formal, simple and direct. He also used rhetorical questions to make people feel part of the topic he discussed, to share his view point and to look for a solution together like brothers in a brotherhood.
He also made used of pathos by given examples like the parade that even though peaceful obtained an excessive reaction supported by law and that it was wrong to urge an individual to cease his efforts to gain his basic constitutional rights because the quest may precipitate violence. His words expressing that society must protect the robbed and punish the thieves makes as feel that law is for the thieves rather than for the robbed appealing in that way to our personal experiences. Through civil disobedience, he said he would bring to the surface an issue that was hidden, but that was present unsolved as unfair and out of justice.Futhermore, the presence of ethos is portrayed by the knowledge of the law he had ,the amendments and the vocabulary related to its speech like segregation , privileges and protest.

In short, the author's aim is to make others understand the inequality in relation  to  law and  how they  can  be improved,to show that what is considered correct or  out of question  can be questioned and sometimes corrected .
